Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles x Godzilla brings together two pop-culture giants in one of IDW Publishing’s most anticipated comic crossovers. Issue 1 wastes no time unleashing full-scale kaiju chaos, throwing the Turtles into a world where Godzilla has been a long-time enemy of the Foot Clan.

Splinter Telling the History of The Foot Clan

In a major twist, the Foot Clan’s origins are completely reimagined. As told by Splinter, the clan was once a heroic line of defense protecting Earth from kaiju threats before eventually falling from grace after defeat from Godzilla and transforming into the villainous ninja organization led by the Shredder. This fresh take on the Foot Clan’s history adds compelling new lore to the series and is clearly established as non-canon to the main IDW TMNT continuity, allowing the creative team to take some bold & fun swings.

Right out of the gate, the issue hits the ground running with fan-favorite mutants like Bebop and Rocksteady, along with the always-welcome Mondo Gecko. Krang also makes his presence known, now experimenting with Kaijugen instead of mutagen. One of the standout moments comes when Krang’s computer screen teases multiple kaiju from Godzilla’s rogues’ gallery.

The final pages seal the deal, delivering the reveal of Casey Jones and the arrival of King Ghidorah, confirming that many fan favorites from both franchises are officially in play. With strong world-building, energetic pacing, and plenty of fan service, Issue 1 sets the stage for an explosive crossover that fully embraces the wildest elements of both universes. Much like Godzilla x Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, this series feels like an even bigger childhood dream come true for ’80s and ’90s kaiju fans.
