Back in 2023, Dan & Frank did a series of beach and tropical-themed monster movie reviews for the summer, and one of the highlights was Ebirah, Horror of the Deep (Godzilla vs. the Sea Monster, 1966). Originally intended to feature King Kong, this classic Showa-era film instead brought us Godzilla in an unforgettable island adventure.

The movie introduces the title monster Ebirah for the very first time, and fans will also recognize the return of the Giant Condor! Of course, no tropical kaiju romp is complete without Mothra, who makes an appearance as well. Packed with fun action, memorable monsters, and a tropical setting, it’s a film that still resonates for many of us as a childhood favorite.
