Monster Name: Windom

Windom is one of Ultraseven’s friendly Capsule Monsters, serving as a loyal mechanical ally in battle. Windom is a robotic kaiju that stands on two legs and is entirely constructed of metal. Thanks to its immense strength, Windom is capable of jumping great heights and overpowering many opponents through sheer force. It can also fire laser beams from its forehead, giving it reliable ranged attacks.

Windom made its first appearance when Ultraseven deployed it against the invading fleet of Alien Cool. Windom successfully destroyed several of the Cool’s ships, proving its effectiveness early on. On another mission, Windom was used to battle Alien Kanan, but the situation quickly turned bad when the monster was hit by the Kanan Ray, which caused Windom to turn against Ultraseven. After a brief confrontation, Ultraseven was able to subdue Windom and regain control.

Windom was later used once more in battle against Alien Guts. During this encounter, Alien Guts used its ship to seemingly destroy Windom. However, since Windom is mostly mechanical, it proved difficult to permanently disable. After undergoing repairs, Windom was restored and returned to Ultraseven’s side.

Windom’s design has always reminded me of Mechani-Kong from King Kong Escapes—though instead of a gorilla, Windom resembles a kind of robot chicken-person. It’s a strange but memorable look, and personally, I’ve always really enjoyed the design.

Windom has gone on to appear in several modern Ultraman series, continuing its role as a helpful ally to the Ultras. This profile will be updated as those later appearances are revisited.
