In this episode, the Science Patrol is tasked with investigating a mysterious meteor crash near a desert town called Baraj. On the way to the crash site, they spot a rainbow beam in the sky and realize that it’s somehow electromagnetically charged. The blast from the beam forces the Science Patrol to crash land in the desert. Soon after, they find the meteor but discover nothing unusual about it that would cause such a powerful beam.
Shortly after, the Science Patrol is attacked by a giant beetle-like monster named Antlar. They soon learn that Antlar is the source of the electromagnetic field. During the battle, the team loses one of their ray guns when Antlar pulls it away using magnetic force before retreating back underground.
The Science Patrol then heads to the ancient town of Baraj seeking answers. The town appears abandoned until they encounter a few villagers speaking an ancient language. Their princess emerges and, to the team's surprise, speaks perfect English thanks to her psychic abilities, which allow her to understand and communicate in any language.
The princess reveals that Baraj has been protected for centuries by Ultraman, showing the team an ancient statue of Ultraman holding a mysterious blue stone. But before they can learn more, Antlar reappears and attacks the town for the first time in thousands of years.
Hyata transforms into Ultraman and faces Antlar head-on. Antlar uses its electromagnetic beam to pull Ultraman closer, but Ultraman turns this to his advantage, spinning in close and snapping off one of Antlar’s horns. However, Antlar’s thick exoskeleton proves nearly impenetrable, and Ultraman’s beam can’t deliver a fatal blow. As Ultraman’s energy begins to run out, the princess rushes to grab the blue stone from the statue and has the Science Patrol throw it at Antlar. The stone explodes on impact, destroying Antlar and saving Baraj.
This was a pretty interesting episode we learn that Ultraman may be a very ancient being and has protected Earth far longer than the Science Patrol ever realized. Antlar was a tough kaiju who actually gave Ultraman a solid challenge. I didn’t expect the blue stone to act as a grenade that finished Antlar off I thought it might power Ultraman up instead. Still, this episode shows that even Ultraman has limits; with enough armor and endurance, a kaiju like Antlar could have actually defeated him.
