Movie Appearances: The Return of Godzilla

Shockirus are mutated sea lice that transformed after feeding on Godzilla and ingesting the radiation in his blood. Like normal sea lice, they are parasitic creatures that consume blood and tissue from their hosts or victims. Shockirus have a hard carapace, but due to their relatively small size, it doesn’t offer much protection, humans can kill one with a solid swing from a hatchet or machete.

In The Return of Godzilla, several Shockirus fall off Godzilla while he’s traveling through the ocean. A few of them end up boarding a fishing vessel, killing almost the entire crew, leaving only one survivor. That lone survivor, Yahata-Maru, managed to kill one Shockirus with a hatchet after a struggle. Only a small number of Shockirus were seen on the boat, but it raises a chilling question: how many more slipped into the sea during Godzilla’s journey? There could be countless Shockirus lurking in the depths, feeding on sea life… and maybe even waiting for their next human victim.
