Monster Name: Pigmon

TV Appearance: Ultraman Episode 8, Ultraman Omega Episode 13

Pigmon is a small, friendly monster roughly the size of a human. Its body appears to be covered in bright red, leaf-like scales, giving it a distinct and almost endearing look compared to other kaiju.

In Ultraman Episode 8, “Monster Lawless Zone,” Pigmon helps the Science Patrol locate a missing researcher in the dangerous Monster Zone. Sadly, Pigmon’s good nature leads to tragedy it is crushed to death by a boulder thrown by Red King while trying to save the humans.

Before the discovery of Pigmon in the Monster Zone, Tokyo had been attacked by multiple giant android kaiju known as Garamon, created by the Cicada Humans of Planet Q. The Garamon looked nearly identical to Pigmon, though they were much larger and partially mechanical. Because of this resemblance, many fans theorize that the Cicada Humans may have used Pigmon or Pigmon’s DNA as the biological basis for creating their destructive Garamon.

Despite its tragic fate, Pigmon remains one of the most beloved monsters in Ultraman history a symbol that not all kaiju are enemies.

Pigmon would later reappear in Ultraman Omega Episode 13, where it was found injured and lost inside Koisei and Sorato’s warehouse. Sorato (Ultraman Omega) quickly patched up Pigmon’s wounds and flew it back to its deserted island possibly a reference to the same island from the original Ultraman series.
