Peguila

Monster Name: Peguila
Movie/TV Appearances: Ultra Q, Ultraman Orb Chronicles, Ultraman Z, Redman, Shin Ultraman

Peguila resembles Chandora from Ultraman, but unlike Chandora, Peguila is strong enough to lift its massive body into the sky. While flying, Peguila releases a thick cloud of smoke that wraps around its body, making it look like a drifting cloud instead of a kaiju—an eerie disguise that hides its approach. Peguila can unleash a powerful frost breath that instantly freezes anything in its path, and it can even defy gravity by lifting tanks, cars, and entire buildings high into the air. Its huge wings also generate gusts strong enough to topple structures.

Peguila’s first known encounter happened in Antarctica, where a scientific crew battled the monster and discovered its weakness: a rare Arctic moss. They converted the moss into a chemical weapon and managed to hit Peguila with it not enough to kill the monster, but enough to force it to retreat. After fleeing Antarctica, Peguila flew north for a long time before finally reaching Japan.

Peguila Attacks Tokyo

Once it arrived in Tokyo, Peguila unleashed a sudden Ice Age in the middle of a scorching summer. The creature froze the city instantly, throwing everything into chaos. Scientists quickly prepared a plane loaded with the moss-based chemical. The pilot a father who had faced many failures in life sacrificed himself by flying the plane straight into Peguila’s mouth, causing a massive explosion that delivered the chemical directly inside the monster. Even that wasn’t enough to kill Peguila, but it did make it retreat into the sky once again. The true fate of the original Peguila remains unknown.

In a more modern appearance, Shin Peguila was classified as an S-Class Species. It emerged in the suburbs of a city it had already frozen over with its abilities. A female scientist eventually uncovered this Peguila’s unique weakness, allowing the Japanese military to finally bring the creature down. Unlike the original Peguila, this incarnation was fully killed rather than forced to flee.

Peguila’s species continued to show up throughout kaiju history, with multiple Peguila later encountered and destroyed by Redman. A more recent creature suspected to be a relative of the Peguila species was Pegunos, which shared a very similar body type and displayed nearly identical abilities when it battled Ultraman Omega and Rekiness.
