Movie Appearances: King Kong vs. Godzilla, The War of the Gargantuas

Oodako is a giant octopus and easily one of the most basic Kaiju out there. Oodako’s main ability is a powerful tentacle grip, capable of crushing or dragging opponents. Oodako first appeared in King Kong vs. Godzilla, attempting to steal berry juice from the natives of Faro Island—only to be quickly defeated when Kong arrived to save the day.

Oodako later appeared in The War of the Gargantuas during the opening scene, attacking a boat before battling Gaira. Unfortunately, Oodako was defeated once again. In fact, Oodako has basically lost every on-screen battle to date.

Interestingly, Oodako was originally supposed to appear in Frankenstein Conquers the World, but that scene was cut. The alternate ending reportedly featured Oodako dragging Frankenstein into the ocean, which would have been Oodako’s one and only victory. This ending would have tied perfectly into The War of the Gargantuas, since that film was intended as a sequel to Frankenstein Conquers the World.

Let’s be honest—Oodako is kind of a lame Kaiju. Cool design, sure, but not much of a win record. Gezora would totally mop the floor with Oodako (just like every other Kaiju that’s ever faced those tentacles).).
