Name: Neronga
Appearances: Ultraman Episode 3 — “Charge Forth, Science Patrol”, Shin Ultraman, Ultraman Rising
Neronga is an ancient kaiju from Earth that was thrown down a well long ago. When a power plant was later built near that well, the creature was reawakened and began feeding on the plant’s electricity, growing larger and stronger.
Neronga usually walks on all fours but can stand on its hind legs when needed. Its most notable feature is the large horn on its head, along with two smaller horns on the back of its head that resemble insect antennae. These horns usually point backward, but when Neronga fires its electric bolts, it moves them forward to connect with its main horn—creating a concentrated beam of electricity.
Neronga’s body is covered with bumps and ridges that run down its back to its tail, which also has spine-like protrusions. It has flaps under its front arms and large rear teeth that stick out from the sides of its mouth. Neronga’s main abilities are its electric attacks, invisibility, and use of its tail in combat.
Neronga made its first appearance in Ultraman Episode 3, “Charge Forth, Science Patrol,” where it was ultimately defeated by Ultraman.
Neronga is a pretty cool kaiju it kind of looks like Baragon’s ugly cousin. The monster was actually created by repurposing a Baragon suit, with changes made to the head, color, and tail. Despite being a suit reuse, the design turned out awesome, and Neronga’s powers make it stand out. It would be fun to see Neronga and Baragon go head-to-head someday.
