Negadon
Monster Name: Negadon
Movie Appearance: Negadon: The Monster from Mars

Negadon is a massive, armored creature resembling a giant flying squid. Its body is encased in a thick shell of plating, and it can retract or extend its head from within this armor. Negadon’s most notable features are its long, flexible tentacles capable of emitting powerful laser blasts. Despite its alien nature, it demonstrates an eerie intelligence and relentless aggression.

Negadon’s arrival on Earth was completely accidental. During a Mars expedition, the crew of the Izanami shuttle unearthed what they believed to be a massive boulder. Upon re-entry into Earth’s atmosphere, the “boulder” hatched revealing itself to be the egg of Negadon. The monster emerged from the explosion and immediately began its assault on Tokyo.

The Japanese military responded with rockets, tanks, and fighter jets, but none of their weapons could even scratch Negadon’s armor. With a single devastating blast from its front tentacle, Negadon wiped out the entire defense force. As the city burned, Professor Narasakia scientist who had abandoned his robotic mining project after a personal tragedy piloted his creation, the Miroku-2, to confront the monster.

The two giants clashed in a fierce battle. Miroku-2 fought valiantly but was heavily damaged. Realizing there was no other way to stop the creature, Narasaki latched Miroku-2 onto Negadon and flew into space. In the final moments, Miroku-2 drove its drill straight through the glowing eye on Negadon’s tentacle before detonating its reactor. The explosion destroyed both combatants, saving Earth but costing Narasaki his life.

Negadon proved nearly invincible during the fight, shrugging off all conventional attacks. However, the moment the Miroku-2’s drill pierced the creature’s eye, its energy seemed to fade instantly. This raises the question was that eye the true weak point of Negadon all along, making the final reactor explosion unnecessary?
