Monster Name: Meganula

Movie Appearances: Godzilla vs. Megaguirus

Meganula are the mature form of Meganulon, emerging once they shed their heavy carapaces. These creatures become giant dragonflies capable of flying at extremely high speeds. Meganula have deadly stingers that can kill a human instantly or drain energy from much larger monsters like Godzilla. They also retain the same crushing mandibles their larval forms used, making them just as dangerous up close.

In Godzilla vs. Megaguirus, the Meganula swarm launches a coordinated attack on Godzilla. Using their stingers, they drain his energy and transfer it back to their Queen, allowing her to evolve into Megaguirus after the swarm sacrifices itself. While Meganula proved to be a nuisance for Godzilla, he was still able to destroy many of them easily with his atomic breath. Some managed to escape and return to the Queen, but overall, Godzilla handled the swarm without much trouble.

However, if it had been humans alone facing the Meganula instead of Godzilla, things would have been a whole lot worse. Against humanity, a full Meganula swarm would have been devastating.
