Monster Profile: Litra (a.k.a. Ritora)

Movie Appearance: Ultra Q (TV Series)

Litra is a flying kaiju that resembles a giant bird a mix between a rooster and a peacock, complete with colorful feathers and a long, decorative tail. Despite its elegant appearance, Litra is a fierce protector capable of launching devastating acid attacks from its beak.

The original Litra made its debut in Ultra Q, emerging from an egg when its ancient enemy Gomess awakened from the earth. The two monsters battled in a fierce and tragic clash. Although Litra ultimately defeated Gomess by burning him with its acid attack, it succumbed to its own injuries shortly afterward.

Litra’s sacrifice made it one of the earliest heroic kaiju in the Ultra Series, remembered for its bravery and selflessness. While this first Litra died, other Litra have reportedly appeared in later Ultraman series and continuities likely descendants or rebirths of the original.

I’ve only encountered Litra so far in Ultra Q, but as I continue watching through the Ultra Series from start to finish, I’ll update this entry with details on future appearances.
