Kumonga is a giant spider kaiju that lives on Monster Island. Originally debuting in Son of Godzilla under the name “Spiga,” the creature later became widely known as Kumonga. This colossal arachnid has the ability to spray thick webbing and strike with poisonous stingers, making it one of Monster Island’s most dangerous predators.

In Son of Godzilla, Kumonga first attacked Minilla and easily overpowered a Kamacuras before facing Godzilla. As Kumonga prepared to inject Minilla with venom, Godzilla intervened and swiftly defeated the spider despite being slowed down by its webs.

Kumonga later appeared in Destroy All Monsters, joining the allied kaiju to battle King Ghidorah. Alongside Mothra, Kumonga used its webbing to immobilize Ghidorah and prevent escape. The spider was later seen living peacefully on Monster Island in Godzilla vs Gigan and Godzilla’s Revenge.

Years later, Kumonga returned in Godzilla: Final Wars when the Xiliens took control of Earth’s monsters. This time, Kumonga demonstrated surprising agility—leaping around Godzilla and evading attacks while covering him in webs. However, Godzilla soon turned the tables, catching the web mid-blast and slamming Kumonga into a mountain in one of the film’s most memorable moments.
