Monster Name: Kingsaurus (Kingsaurus III)
Monster Appearance: Return of Ultraman
Kingsaurus is a massive, four-legged dinosaur kaiju featuring a large dorsal sail similar to a Spinosaurus or Dimetrodon, along with three powerful horns on its head. These horns are incredibly strong—strong enough to pierce most enemies and Kingsaurus even managed to stab Ultraman Jack through the leg during their battle.
In addition to its raw physical strength, Kingsaurus possesses a wide and dangerous range of abilities. It can burrow underground at high speed, allowing it to retreat or reposition easily. Its horns emit a painful energy that stings anyone who touches them, and its two larger horns can release blinding energy waves, temporarily rendering opponents blind. Kingsaurus can also fire energy beams from its mouth, adding a ranged attack to its already deadly arsenal.
Despite all of these abilities, Kingsaurus’s most terrifying weapon is its force field barrier. This energy fence surrounds the monster, making it nearly impenetrable—none of Ultraman Jack’s attacks were able to break through it during their first encounter.
Kingsaurus first appeared while heading toward a nuclear power plant, prompting MAT to intervene. Ultraman Jack engaged the monster, but its force field rendered his attacks useless. Completely unable to harm Kingsaurus, Ultraman Jack exhausted his energy and was forced to retreat. After the battle, Kingsaurus burrowed underground to recover as well.
MAT later discovered that Kingsaurus draws much of its power from nuclear energy. When the monster resurfaced and returned to feed on the power plant, Ultraman Jack came back prepared. This time, he leapt over the force field and delivered a powerful dropkick to Kingsaurus’s head, breaking off its two large horns. The trauma caused the force field to collapse, leaving the monster vulnerable. Ultraman Jack overwhelmed Kingsaurus and finished it off with a Specium Ray, killing the kaiju.
Kingsaurus is notable for being the first monster to completely drain Ultraman Jack’s energy, which is why it stands out as an extremely high-level threat. With its deep pool of abilities, layered defenses, and overwhelming strength, Kingsaurus truly felt unstoppable making it one of the most intense battles in Return of Ultraman.
The name Kingsaurus III refers to it being the third kaiju with “King” in its name, following Red King and Eleking. All three have gone on to become some of the most recognizable and memorable monsters in the Ultra Series.
