Monster Profile: Juran

Juran is a giant flower with roots that can move freely underground. Its roots attack humans by wrapping around them and sucking out their blood with the large thorns covering each root. Juran is also referred to as the Mammoth Flower since that’s basically what it is—a massive flower monster. It can also spray poisonous pollen into the air.

The first Juran was killed using flamethrowers and a plant-killer spray. Juran has appeared in other Ultra Series entries, but I haven’t seen those episodes yet. I’ll update this profile once I’ve watched the

In Shin Ultraman, we get a new take on Juran, referred to here as the Mammoth Flower. This version shows up in central Tokyo, bursting out of the ground and blooming right in front of Tokyo Station. It’s classified as the second Giant Unidentified Lifeform to appear in Japan.

Just like the classic version, this Juran proves dangerous, but the JSDF eventually take it down. They end up destroying the Mammoth Flower by hitting it with a combo of carbon dioxide gas and flames, which causes the plant to wilt and collapse.
