Ghostron
Monster Name: Ghostron
Monster Appearances: Return of Ultraman, The Ultraman, Redman

Ghostron is a large, dinosaur-like kaiju with a body and facial structure very similar to Arstron. Instead of a horn, however, Ghostron sports a large head hump that extends into a frilled ridge down its back. Because of these shared traits, many fans consider Ghostron and Arstron to be cousin species. Ghostron also has extremely poor eyesight and relies almost entirely on sound to navigate, react, and attack. Like its cousin, Ghostron can burrow underground and fire heat beams from its mouth.

Ghostron’s first appearance occurred when it suddenly emerged from underground in a valley not far from Tokyo. MAT initially assumed it was a harmless monster and sent Go to handle the situation using their new experimental X Bomb. When Go arrived in his jet, Ghostron didn’t react aggressively not out of peace, but because it couldn’t see the jet and only detected the sound. The X Bomb became lodged in Ghostron’s tail and failed to explode, causing the creature to retreat underground.

MAT tracked its movement, and Ghostron resurfaced near a dynamite production facility. The main fear now wasn’t the monster, but the unstable X Bomb attached to its tail. Ultraman Jack arrived and attempted to engage, but Ghostron showed no interest in fighting and merely sat near the plant, unaware of the danger. As the bomb’s timer ticked down, Jack burrowed beneath the monster, lifted it into the sky, and flew it into the upper atmosphere—where the X Bomb finally detonated, killing Ghostron.

Since its debut, Ghostron has appeared again in Redman and The Ultraman animated series. While generally less dangerous than its cousin Arstron, Ghostron still isn’t a monster that should be ignored. Like Gorbagos, it’s mostly docile, but certain situations force drastic measures.
